From New Orleans to Europe, port resilience is gaining ground as a global priority.
Earlier this June, our partner AIVP took part in Green Marine’s GreenTech 2025 conference, held in New Orleans (USA), to present key initiatives for sustainable and inclusive port development.
Over three days, the event brought together North American and international stakeholders from the maritime community to exchange knowledge and showcase innovations advancing the green transition of ports.
Representing AIVP, Caya Dhuique-Hein and Anas Laani hosted an exhibition stand where they introduced AIVP’s services and projects, as well as the Port Center concept, a participatory tool that strengthens the vital relationship between ports, cities, and citizens. Presented on the Innovation Stage, the Port Center model sparked strong interest for its role in improving transparency, dialogue, and community engagement around port activities.

Caya also spoke in the session “A Look at Sustainable Shipping Around the Globe”, highlighting the crucial role of port resilience in achieving sustainability objectives. She shared insights from AIVP’s international work on resilience through the Ocean Rise and Coastal Resilience coalition and the SAFARI Ports project, both of which address how ports can prepare for and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Her intervention underlined a key message: sustainable shipping cannot exist without resilient ports. By integrating resilience strategies into green port planning, initiatives like SAFARI contribute to safeguarding global trade routes and coastal communities alike.
👏 Congratulations to the AIVP team for their active participation and for helping bring the conversation on port resilience to the global stage.
